Debian Logo freezes the system

Hello everyone.

Frustrating problem has just started.

I am using Debian Sarge 3.1 and over the last week, as Gnome loads up the Nautilas logo would just stay in the middle of the screen until I clicked on it and then then It would disappear and I would have a working system.

Now, after I login the system freezes as soon as the Debian logo starts up.

No mouse commands will work but I do still have keyboard functions because I can get into a text based screen.

Any ideas what I can do to clarify the problem.

Regards

Solved the problem.

I had a 2.4 kernel as a backup installed and that booted up fine so I uninstalled the 2.6.11 kernel I was booting from.

Regards
