Debian 7 sound problem

hello,

i've installed Debian 7.4 stable on my Dell inspiron 530 desktop, but I am having trouble getting the sound to work.

on alsamixer, the main and pcm don't have any option to unmute or mute, everything that can be set to 00 is.

lspci | grep audio gives:

01:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV620 HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 3400 Series]
02:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs SB X-Fi

any advice on packages I need or configurations to do?

thanks in advance

You can move the mixer levels up or down with your arrow keys with alsamixer. Have you tried that?

And you've tried using F6 with alsamixer to make sure the right card is being configured?

Have you checked to make sure the connections between the device and your speakers is sound?

To make sure alsa is set up correctly do:
Code:
"alsamixer"
"F6" and select Creative Labs SB X-Fi
Navigate to Master
"m" to unmute
And use the up and down arrows to change volume
Check to make sure alsa is using the correct sound device drivers by cating /proc/asound/modules. You should be using snd-ctxfi.
