choose packages at sarge install
When I installed Mandrake 10.0 the installer "helped" me to pick the right packages. ex. when I picked Gnome, the installer chosed some packages that where needed for gnome to work properly aoutomaticly.
Does the sargedebian installer do so too? Or do I have to chose allthe packages by myself? What if I don't know what packages I have to choose? Like dependencis and so, I'm a newbie you know.

During the installation of Woody, it uses a program called 'Tasksel' where you select basic things that will be installed on your system, such as the Desktop Manager, Games, Development Environment, etc.
Then it goes into a more advanced package manager called 'dselect' where you choose what individual packages you want installed on your system.
I believe both those programs resolve all dependancies. Those programs are used in Woody; I don't know if it is the same for Sarge.
Once your system is installed you would use the command 'apt-get' to install programs, which also resolves dependancies for you.

The sarge installer also runs "tasksel" after the first boot. If you choose "desktop environment", it will automatically download and install the latest versions of KDE, Gnome, Openoffice, and a lot of other applications.
