Changing default gcc compiler

I want my gcc compiler to default the the gcc4.2 latest version. I am having trouble to make this change permanent....

How are you making the change? You might want to try ln -sfn /usr/bin/gcc-4.2 /usr/bin/gcc to change the link or I would just put export CC=/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 in your .bashrc to set the compiler you want used.

ahh yes.....that looks familiar...lol...thanks....i will change to CC=/usr/bin/gcc-4.2
