Alsa 1.0.6 anytime?

I'm new to debian, but can anybody clue me in to what the proceedure is for alsa updates? I'm running sid so can I expect this any time soon? Or do I have to do some magivering like with everything else because it won't be in the unstable repo's for a long time.

I got one of those Audigy LS's and can't wait to hear sound again.

You can download the debian packages but for me they didn't work with mplayer so I did it from source. If you're interested this is how I got it working:

compile kernel with sound modular, alsa modular and your sound card modular.
download source code
install driver, install libraries, install utilities
in the alsa-driver folder run ./snddevices
check permissions
run alsamixer set volume

There is better documentation in the alsawiki at http://alsa.opensrc.org/
