how to find my mouse type for DSL

I am using live cd of DSL on a computer with 400MHz processor,256MB RAM hoping that performance will be better than heavy distros.
My question is I have mouse with ball inside it(unlike optical mose available today) & it is plugged into back of CPU not in USB port but the similiar to one in which keyboard wire is plugged(not a USB port but big circular hole with perforated plastic plug). The mouse is of compaq company. What should I enter in X set-up?
Actually I don't have technical specifications so gave this description.
