mouse device type


i have a (don't know if it matters)Genius NetScroll Optical ... and i don't know what kind of device it is ... it's not /dev/mouse (default) or /dev/tty00. Motherboard is Asus A6M8x-VW400

What distribution and version are you running. I'm on SuSE 10.0, my mouse works and I don't have a /dev/mouse or /dev/tty00.

/dev/mouse isn't a type, it is a location, all mice are that in SuSE(or /dec/input/mouse...usbmouse, PS2mouse... anywho)That selection doesn't really matter if your mouse works at all.

They type is the protocol, for instance: ExplorerPS/2 or a dozen other choices. You can check around many places to find out which protocol your mouse is, which is based on functionality and button count. You can check my web page for a how-to on getting extra buttons working, if that is your aim.
