glxgears: Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual.
Hi all,
When I run glxgears, I get the following error:
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual.
Also, this is the output of glxinfo:
name of display: :0.0
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig
Previously, the error when I ran glxgears was:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0"
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig
Since then, I had downloaded updated nvidia drivers and now I'm not getting the Xlib GLX missing message, but I'm not sure if this is an improvement or not since I'm a bit new to Linux.
Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this problem? I've been trying to debug this for the past few weeks with no luck, so I would really appreciate some help on this.
2 graphic cards in there.
the nvidia is not in use (no kernel driver in use).
maybe the intel card is not capable enough.
try to disable the intel and use nvidia only.
it's a tricky process, and if you need help with that, you have to
1. do some honest research yourself
2. share your findings
3. provide much more information. please see the first link in my signature.
I tried looking through the BIOS to see if I could disable the intel graphics card, but it didn't have an option there, other than for intel virtualization.
I also tried going to the other operating system, Windows 7, on my laptop and disabling the intel card through the device manager, but that only gave me a black screen and the intel card was re-enabled after restarting.
The next possible solution I'm going to try is downloading bumblebee, but does anyone have any other suggestions?
