Welcome to the family of calculate linux

Calculate Linux by Alexander Tratsevskiy - is an open project, supported by Calculate Pack company, which promotes using Linux everywhere. The project gives free and easy access to all opportunities of Gentoo Linux.

We, Calculate Linux believe in Free Source and encourage Free Thinking beyond limits. Thats the major reason why we beleive in highly personalizable distro like Calculate. What makes Calculate different from other major distros is of course its customizablility that can be done in a very user friendly way.
let us point out what makes Calculate Linux unique to choose.

1) Compare Calculate to the normal distros that supply with universal program packages. when running those distros, you are installing universal packages, the same ones many others are using without any significant difference. All you are doing is finding the pre-compiled package and installing it to your Linux box. there is no room for personalization.
But using Calculate Linux, the Gentoo based distro, you will be installing from the source code using 'emerge' command, but no in-depth knowledge of compiling is needed to do that. For example, when you try installing 'Ktorrent' package, all you got to do is run 'emerge ktorrent' as root in terminal and sit back. The package manager will fetch the source code for 'Ktorrent' and will compile it according specifications of your Computer. So, what you will be getting in the end is a 'Ktorrent' program that is unique for your Linux box.

2) Gentoo Linux do it the same way, but with Calculate Linux, you wont be compiling straight from the Live CD/DVD. Instead, you will be loading the image and Calculate Linux provides you with a pre-compiled work environment (XFCE, KDE, GNOME) and you can start building up your personalized distro from there. In the present releases, some most commonly used programs are pre-installed for the convenience of a user. If you want to build your personalized package unique for your Linux box, all you have to do is just run 'emerge -C <name of package>', which will install the existing package and re-install using 'emerge <package name>'. that will fetch you the unique personalized package for you.

Being a Live DVD, it allows its users to easily test and use the distribution on various hardware (PC or notebook),for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.. Our aim behind Calculate is ease to use, install and update linux on any number of computers. Two editions are available: Calculate Linux Desktop (CLD) and Calculate Directory Server (CDS). Calculate Linux Desktop is available both in Xfce and KDE flavours right now. Gnome version will be released shortly.

Calculate Linux Desktop 9.6 edition is powered by Linux Kernel 2.6.28.10 and X.Org 7.4 and is designed specially for individual users that allows you to easily surf the Internet, manage your e-mails, edit photos, multi-media functions, and for daily office task needs. Calculate Linux Desktop has a fast booting time and is very easy to use. Practically, this Linux distribution allows you to perform common tasks in any way you desire, because it provides many customization options of the system behavior.

Main features/improvements or bugfixes brought by Calculate Linux Desktop 9.6:

BTW, looking at http://www.calculate-linux.ru/Вышел_...esktop_9.7_KDE the page reads to me like "ebuild, Calculate Overlay, layman, Calculate Linux 9.7, Gentoo, layman -S && update-eix, eix-sync, LiveDVD, USB Flash, 2, KDE, livecd, README.html". Sure that's my fault for not having learnt to read Cyrillic and I doubt you'll have much left in terms of resources but wouldn't it be nice if even just the homepage would be available in plain english?

Thank you for your question.
You can switch to the English version of the page, using the top menu, "In other Language". Translation of this page you do not already have, because this is a preliminary version of the description of the changes that will be included in the next version of Calculate Linux Desktop. To exit the release will be ready to translate this page.
