Absolute noob: can't even burn an iso image!

Hello Forum!

I downloaded the 5.1.0 Legacy iso image. I'm using Nero Express 6 on an old AMD K7 WinXP PC.
When choosing to burn on DVD, I get an error message stating that the system is expecting CD recordable media instead.
I've then tried using a CD-R, but the iso image actually exceeds the 700Mb capacity!
I feel useless...
How can I get this fixed! Thanks a lot,
Peperina.
