Well I decided not to get a Logitech after all, after reading it had problems with Linux. it seems you can get it working for awhile then it just freezes.
So because of the fact I did get the cheap Mikomi working this week I decided to buy a slightly dearer Mikomi DC-7120 5mp Mic and Zoom (that's what it says on the box). I plugged it in as I started the computer, and it lit up as my desktop appeared. I logged in at Skype and tested the camera, it worked straight away, of course I have to test the mic when I get chance to chat, but even if the mic doesn't work, my portable mic does.
By the way if anyone is interested this laptop is a Toshiba Equium 1.73mhz centrino duo core, with 1gh memory and 60gb hard drive. The manual actually say's "A100". It came with Vista home premium, and even though all the buttons on it are for windows (playing video etc), Vista didn't last to the end of the warranty! It now has Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, and it couldn't be happier!
