A completely uninteresting, self-centered whinefest

Posted 06-19-2014 at 01:37 AM by ttk

It seems fitting that my first new blog entry in months should be a means of procrastination. I have lofty goals for this space, but they are thus far mostly unfulfilled. This study in self-pity shouldn't be here, but I feel the need to write about it, and I can't think of another place to do so. Maybe I need a journal? Something where I can write the stuff that doesn't matter?

If you hadn't figured it out already, you can refrain from reading this post and your life will be no poorer for having skipped it.

I stayed late at work to get my project ready for an interim-release, so that a coworker could test his new code with it, and I totally thick-fingered the release, inflicting considerable damage to someone else's release. So I wound up staying even later to repair the harm I had wrought, detailing in email what had happened to the owner of the stomped-upon release and to my boss so they could check it over in the morning to make sure I had correctly reversed the damage, and then staying still later to finish my own interim-release.

During all this my wife texted me, saying she was going to bed, and adding some items to the grocery list. It was 9:45 by the time I got out of the office, making it a thirteen-hour day.

I stopped by the store on the way home and wandered the aisles like the slow variety of zombie, working my way down the list and trying not to think of the remaining work yet standing between me and sleep.

I got home about 10:45 to discover one of the dogs had decorated the back doormat with copious volumes of urine. Ran the dogs out, cleaned up the doormat as best I could (tomorrow morning I'll take it out and hose it off), and realized while putting the groceries away that it was trash night.

That brings us up to the present. It's 11:30 at night, and I've got to sit down for a few minutes before cleaning the critter cages and litter boxes and collecting / taking out the trash. I'm @#$% exhausted, but if I close my eyes and count to a hundred that should give me the second wind I need to zip through these remaining tasks so I can go to bed.

Well, not to "bed". I'd wake my wife if I tried to climb into bed. It's the couch tonight for me. Yay.

G'nite geeks, I hope not too many of you bothered to read this utterly pointless heap of text. Maybe I can make up for it soon by writing something more worthwhile.

Welcome to Hell, married life. (Just funning)

Owning 5 dogs and 2 cats myself because the wife is a soft touch. One of the reasons I love her so much.
Losing sleep can make one a bit cranky.

Thankfully for me a I am a biker with my own business and when times get tough.
I use biker prozac and all frustration lifts off my shoulders like magic.
My grin makes me easier to bear in company.

Better you post here than beat your loved ones.

Hope things work out for ya. Sometimes one has to bite the bullet. Think of all the poor souls worse off
than you and then you might shake your head and grin your self.
