Six year hiatus and Where I am Now

Posted 11-26-2015 at 10:00 AM by stureedy

It seems I've accidentally taken a six year hiatus from blog posts on Linux Questions. That was not my intention. I just have three other blogs and they have taken precedence.

So, now I'm running Slackware64 on all our servers. I retired the last Slackware 12.2 (32-bit) box earlier this year. The date was May 14th, for those keeping track.

Yesterday we retired our last Drupal 6 box and now use WordPress as our CMS. I still have a lot to learn about WordPress, but we're...

udev and network devices

Posted 08-03-2009 at 06:57 AM by stureedy

I chose Slackware way back then, because the speed of the ftp site on which it was hosted.

Once I got a taste of Linux, I was in love! I switched...

Slackware 64 Rocks!

Posted 07-10-2009 at 09:25 PM by stureedy

When I saw the announcement on Slackware.com that Slackware64-current had gone public, I had to try it. (I've been running Slackware as my primary OS--both desktop and server--for years.)

I downloaded the kernels, isolinux, and the slackware64 (packages) directories and begin reading.

OK, first step is to generate a boot CD. No problem! The directions in isolinux/README.TXT provided all the information I needed to make a boot DVD or CD. I opted to make a boot CD...
