Ian did a lot of damage to Florida!

Posted 10-10-2022 at 12:34 PM by onebuck

Hi,

Florida was hit hard by Ian! We had major damage in our park. It was sporadic, as if it was from a spawned tornado(s). I lost some of my shingles and a lot of lifting and splits. I'm going to have asphalt replacement. I checked out metal roofing and it was cost prohibitive. Way to much money that I would not live long enough to justify cost difference between asphalt & metal. It's taken my Insurance adjuster a long period before contacting me. He'll be here late afternoon. I've already got a estimates for roof replacement. I'm sure Insurance will low ball me but I do have an attorney who loves to fight for me. Insurance said they would send out emergency crew to tarp the house. No go yet.

I consider a roof and some siding repairs for my house to be a plus as compared to others in the park.

I had to lay off playing golf to allow my shoulder heal. I was helping Pro shop replace batteries in rental carts when I was lifting a battery and turned to walk off the pallet, I didn't realize my foot was wrapped up in the plastic wrap. I took a crash to concrete thus injuring my shoulder and pride. Got road burn on my right elbow. I told our leader not to ask for me too volunteer for anything else.

Still warmer here than in Illinois. They had a frost warning the other day. We get up in morning at 60+ degrees. Latter in the day it gets to mid 80. Fall is here but I enjoy going to the pool when I can. I'll be playing golf again in a few days.
