A blog about programming, network management, and raising a boy, by the world's almost-worst blogger (Remember: There will always be someone bigger / stronger / faster / worse-at-blogging than you are)

Of all the places I would have a blog, LQ is probably the most appropriate.

I maintain one on behalf of my son (13 months old now), and I do that fairly badly. I've never really kept a diary of any sort before, so the urge to go and record my thoughts just doesn't jump out and bite me very often. Now and then my boy will do something amazing, like sayong a new word (or part thereof) or feeding himself with a spoon or taking those first couple of steps, and I think "wow I should blog about this ... just as soon as he goes to sleep". Of course being the kind of person I am, by the time he does go to sleep, I've long since dropped that train of thought in favour of something more challenging like setting up smb-ldap or spelling things. Not a good subject to get my wife onto. My memory that is, not smb-ldap.

So here is a blog I plan to update about every forth or fifth blue moon. Full of all my joy and wonder at the ins and outs of firewalls and routing, or that guy working next door whose C skills remind me of my son's current brain surgery abilities (where does that pointer point?), or about my own first fumblings into the land of bytecodes and classpaths.

If you will be reading along, thanks in advance (far in advance) for your patience. I hope its not too far out there. Maybe I'll post again this year. Maybe I won't. Time will tell.

Welcome to my LQ blog.
John.
