Well, we landed a contract with AT&T to manage 34 of their IDCs (Internet Data Centers).
Exciting stuff and I look forward to the challenges.
But have a little reservation about "transferable skills", and whether or not my 24 years in IT
is going to compliment or impede the tasks I will be charged with.
My desire is to be "prepared" but I'm pretty sure that is not possible since I believe AT&T has their "own way" of doing what they do. I expect training is likely on new systems and processes.
New nomenclatures, new processes, varying routines specific to AT&T.
Certification is mandatory.
Anyone have some input on working for AT&T, or at AT&T? Or even in an IDC of this scale?
Bought The Data Center Handbook. It reads like dry toast or
Boss says it won't be much different than the usual I've done (for him) for 7 years now.
I'm thinking that a "everything I know is wrong" approach may be the best approach.
What's their corporate environment like?
I am not expecting to move to Dallas as Remote work is OK w\AT&T.
Any sound advice/feedback would be appreciated.
Have a Great Day and thanks for your time.
