Interesting shell scripts and helpers

Posted 08-24-2022 at 06:45 AM by craigevil (craigevil's random words of wisdom)
Updated 08-25-2022 at 08:51 AM by craigevil (added crontab-ui)

I have come across several shell scripts that are very very interesting.
First off are the scripts that make using fzf really useful:
https://github.com/atweiden/fzf-extras
https://github.com/lincheney/fzf-tab-completion

Then the ones for when you are writing a shell script:
https://www.shellcheck.net/
https://github.com/anordal/shellharden

Ones that can help you from making a mistake using a terminal command:

Nala is a front-end for libapt-pkg. Specifically we interface using the python-apt api.
Especially for newer users it can be hard to understand what apt is trying to do when installing or upgrading.
We aim to solve this by not showing some redundant messages, formatting the packages better, and using color to
show specifically what will happen

Newer Firefox on Debian/RPIOS/Ubuntu

OK take a deep breath, now let it out.
Note: Raspberry Pi OS now has the current release version in the Bookworm repos.

There are several ways to get a newer version of Firefox.

First, there is Ubuntuzilla, which works for i386/amd64 but not arm32/arm64. Since I am on RPIOS I am just posting the link to it.
