Firefox segfaulting, can't find solution or cause

Okay so I've been dealing with this for a few months. Whenever I start firefox as a non-root user, it attempts to redirect me to my University's verification page and then segfaults with the message:
Code:
/opt/mozilla/lib/firefox-1.5.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 131:  3217 Segmentation fault      "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
I have attempted just about everything I can find on Google, and have asked on a few occasions. The first time (and possibly the second, I don't quite remember) this happened, I solved the problem by installing the ttf-ms-fonts package from pacman. This time, however, I'm having the same problem and pacman reports that the package is installed.

On a side note, another symptom of this problem seems to be that the Gnome-Panel will crash when I hover over the accessories entry in the default menu. It starts itself back up, but continues to crash if I need to access any of the items in Accessories. I'm not sure what to do anymore with this. I've been using Opera so long now that I am actually getting used to it.

I've tried removing and reinstalling firefox about 10 times....Still hasn't worked. hmm....

EDIT: I just tried again. I also removed /opt/mozilla and everything inside it and /home/user/.firefox. Didn't fix a thing.

Try downloading it from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
and make sure these dependencies are installed properly
Code:
    * glibc 2.3.2 or higher
    * XFree86-3.3.6 or higher
    * gtk+2.0 or higher
    * fontconfig (also known as xft)
    * libstdc++5

still not working...

I think though, that Opera 9 has converted me. I'll keep looking for the cause of this, but I think I'm using Opera9 from here on out.
