gil = TCP/IP process consumes a lot of CPU

Hello,

I'm a beginning AIX administrator and have a problem on one of our servers.
On one of our servers the gil process is taking up a lot of CPU power. The server is running a java based application and apache and has a lot of network connections and also NFS connections that are used.

The strange thing is that we have to exact the same serevers being eachothers failover machines. At one of them the gil process is using a lot of CPU (between 50% and 80% or so) and on the other one it uses almost nothing (0.4% or so).

The system isn't slow but the gil process is blocking the Java processes that also need a great ammount of CPU.

Does anybody has an explanation for this? I've read that rebooting the system solves the problem but i can't do that because this is a very important machine. And i'd like to know what can do to solve this on the fly or prevent it in the future.
