What's your favorite Open Source game?

Voted FreeOrion, though this one was a mean one.
There are A LOT of games on that list, I like and play frequently...

I can't decide between Minetest and Simutrans. Probably Simutrans, but unfortunately it's not on the list.

I hate adding to an already enormous list - but my favorite game that I play nearly EVERY single day is Stone Soup Dungeon Crawler.

Most of my favorite Open Source games didn't get listed. Here are some I like: Emilia Pinball, Tuxmath, Drac Klondike, Jooleem, dual n-back lite, hangman, scramble, torrent, concentration, lpairs, yahtzee, starlanes.

0ad, Freeciv, OpenTTD, UFO:AI, Warzone2100 are some of the ones I liked the most.

I do think Battle for Wesnoth is one of the most complete and rich-in-content of the listed games, where other ones are either simple, or still works-in-progress, or remakes of commercial games. So I would love to give my vote to Battle for Wesnoth. But it's also a game that I don't really like for going too far with the KISS principle. I just can't stand that ranged attacks are just a type of damage, and don't provide any strategic advantage that I would expect from... outranging meelee units. And that's just one of my complaints about KISS in that game.

Also, I wonder if perhaps Planeshift should be listed, just because it's a 3D open source MMO, which makes it stand out amongst the other choices here.

It doesn't look like the content for Planeshift is available under an Open Source license.

So the code is under GPL, thus Open Source, while everything else is proprietary, under a license that allows non-commercial modification for personal use or to help the original developers. Thus it could be classified as "open, but not libre license".

In any case it does have a native Linux client.

Now, I'm not saying I'd vote for the game even if it was in the list. Last time I played it was many years ago. But it is a very interesting case that people should at least know about if they are interested in open source games.

I voted Frets on Fire mainly because I've been having a great time playing that lately. Although I still feel that SuperTuxKart is beautifully polished. I also like OpenTTD but haven't played that as much lately, and I've also tried Minetest recently and the game feels unfinished and empty to be honest.

No Endless Sky? Pity, it's an amazing game, fully open source (and on GitHub), and I love the plain text format for everything. Makes it a breeze to mod.
