Smile Where did 5.3-Release go?

back again!

having been away for awhile i am jumping back into the freebsd arena.

i was surprised to see that my installation of 5.3 was failing. it seems to be looking for a nonexistant folder path "5.3-release" blah...blah..blah...

i searched for an answer but either i'm too stupid to see it or just plain tired.

if i missed it then sorry ;(

can someone point me in the right direction so i can change this to look at the right path. my installation cds were downloaded from the iso area from the freebsd site.

thanks for the help!

Buddy

i tried to change where it was ftping from by changing the PKG_PATH to ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/po...stable/Latest/

but it points to

ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-5.3-release/Latest

i'm scratching my head

I'm not exactly a FreeBSD expert myself, but isn't that called the PACKAGESITE variable in FreeBSD? For example by adding the following in root's ~/.profile or /etc/profile?:
Code:
export PACKAGESITE="ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-5-stable/Latest/";
Hope that helps.
