FreeBSD - Where is my installed program?

I have a feeling this is probably a stupid question but anyway...

Installed FreeBSD.
pkg_add -r nano

It downloads and installs nano.

I type "nano" (which worked after I had added the package on NetBSD, OpenBSD, and Debian)

But...FreeBSD can't find the program. I tried to pkg_add again, which confirmed it was already installed. So how come I can't start it?

I assume you can use find in BSD

find / -type f -name nano

All FreeBSD Ports packages are installed under /usr/local $PREFIX so your ptogram can only be under /usr/local/bin or /usr/local/sbin and as this is just an (poor) editor it will be installed as /usr/local/bin/nano.

After installing a program, you need to run the following command so you can run it without needing the absolute path (I believe it's only necessary for tcsh):

Code:
rehash
