Radeon 128 pro couldn't find drivers for it so no GUI.
Couldn't startx said no screen giving me problems stating bad screen.
So I checked out the website and tryed to run a XFree86 -configure and gave me a new file to allow a test on the drivers and all when a blank screen came up I knew this was not working.
Well if anyone knows of drivers that will work for the Radeon 128 pro I would appreciate it....
later....
chris...
PS....did get really use to the Installation setup didn't figure out my problem until after the 15 time of running the setup again and again....Also figured out the differences between boot screens...
Have you tried using just a generic driver just to get you a GUI? I use a Diamond Stealth III 540 Extreme and there's no driver for it either. So when I run xf86config at setup and get to the "Do you want to look at the video card database" (Y) and type 'superprobe' (without the quotes) and see if it gives you a generic vga driver. I use #6 and #2 on the monitor specs, although yours may vary if it's older, if it's a faily new monitor this should be OK. Continue on and select video ram and resolutions. I use 32 on #1 and 4 on # 2-3 and use 16 bit as default colors. It lets me run at 1024x768 and works pretty good. Of course no 3d support but it will let you operate the system just fine for learning and working in FBSD. It's a pretty good trade off just to be able to have BSD. I've become completely addicted since working with it. Rock solid! pkg_add rox! FBSD ROX! Hope this may help you out!
Have you tried the XFree86 config in textmode? Textmode has the largest selection of video cards to choose from. I am sure I saw a Rage 128 pro in there.
