Honestly, I think that just like Mint, Zorin's in-house shop for apps needs LOTS of work from the UI point of view! That being said I have learned a few linux terminal commands and I do most of my installs via terminal.
First I did some searches for what to do after installing Zorin there is are a couple pretty good results from that search that will give you some direction and some program resources to get your started. Then I did review/compare contrast searches for either specific programs or at least types of programs for what I was looking for....like the best photo editors for linux or the best video editors or top games or whatever, you get the idea then read the info and then look up the program sites of the programs that interested me....then downloaded the .debs or .tar.xx and extracted, created repositories got updates and installed what i wanted
Hopefully, in the future Zorin, in keeping with it concept of 'better than Windows' alternative, will improve the functionality of their in-house store so that either they packages are easily found with a much improved search function and or links are maybe provided to either Unbumtu's store or the program sites themselves!
Plus, maybe if you just post a 'wish list' we can help you out with where to get things!
