Automatically loading the GUI
I am planning on installing Vector Linux. I know it is possible to automate the starting of X by putting "startx" in some fileor other (I don't know off the top of my head).
I was wondering if it is possible to automate the starting of the windowmanager that I find is my favorite in VL.

How do you do that? I accidentally just messed up the file that gives you the choices of Window managers, so now it just gives me the options "X Terminal" or "Quit".

configure XDM or KDM to log on automatically for you.
consults your linux distro manual to confirm where they place init runlevel specific files to whether run XDM or KDM.

The answer to that question lies in typing "vasm" at the prompt after you log in as root.
Choose "xwindow" , then xwmsetup , then "bootset".
That should do it.
VASM is a very clever tool , y'know...
I've tried to change my default x to 1024x768x24 using vasm from a root prompt.
It seems to accept ok, says it's testing, ok. xorg.conf has all the modes listed but how do I get the bugger to boot to my preferred mode?
