XMLLINT - when we use in shell mode

When we use it in shell mode and from within the shell I say ls
====================
xmllint --shell CRT.xml
> ls /ruleFamily/ruleFamilyRows/ruleFamilyRow/assertion/factTypeRef
=======================

It shows some values like this
tan 7 Caution
t-- 47 {A1Accept, A2Accept, A3Accept, APlusAcce...
tan 6 Accept
t-- 10 Unscorable
t-- 12 LPUnscorable
t-- 12 NotPopulated
tan 7 Invalid
t-- 81 {A1Accept, A2Accept, A3Accept, APlusAcce...
tan 7 Invalid
===========================
My question is: What is the meaning of the first 3 characters? t--, tan, ---, etc?
