Very newbie question - How to use a .bin file

I want to listen to a radio station that requires Real Player. The site takes me to a download site and I download rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin How do I use the .bin file to install Real Player?

open a terminal, change to the directory the file is in

Code:
./rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin
You probably need to be root. Might need to be made executable.

Code:
chmod u+w rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin

Did that. chmod worked fine.
./rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin Got "Permission denied.".
Tried it with sudo, Got "command not found"

priller meant "x" instead of "w":
Code:
chmod u+x rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin

Since you're using Ubuntu, follow these directions

http://ubuntuguide.org/#extrarepositories

then these directions

http://ubuntuguide.org/#realplayer

And you'll be all set. Forget about the .bin.

I used that methid of apt-getting it and realplayer appears, it even has the appropriate icon but when I try to start it I get

nothing

A reinstall may be needed of the whole OS! I don't want to give up on Ubuntu just yet!

Get the unofficial add-on cd.
Ubuntu Forums - Unofficial UbuntuGuide 5.04 Add-On CD Guide
Follow the install directions. Very simple.
