upgrading ubuntu 14.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS.. postgres/apache

Hello,

We have few old server running ubuntu 14.04 LTS, they are running MW/DB.
I am thinking about upgrading OS on these servers.

Do you foresee any problems in such a move ?

Thank you

You cannot directly upgrade 14.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS. Ubuntu only supports upgrades to consecutive LTS releases. I.e. you'll have to upgrade 14.04→16.04, and after that 16.04→18.04.

It's probably easier and less time-consuming to just install 18.04 from scratch.

14.04 is out of support for 2 years, 16.04 is out of support since April 2021.
I recommend installing 20.04 without an upgrade.
You can import your DB by creating a dump.
