Cool upgrade options for Ubuntu

What is the easiest way to upgrade to the next release of Ubuntu? By easiest I also mean the way that will produce a upgrade with the fewest bugs.

Thanks;

Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and change all instances of your old version e.g. breezy to the new one e.g dapper. Once thats done, do "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade".

Fewest possible bugs? Back up all your data, and then reinstall the new version.

If you have a separate /home partition, you don't need to back up all your data. You can just reinstall on the / partition and mount your /home partition at /home.

Smile re: suggested upgrade options for Ubuntu.

Thanks to Aysulu and reddazz for their suggestions. Both may work for me, I might try both, since I use Ubuntu 5.10 on two different machines.

Thanks again;

I tried to upgrade to Dapper with the dist-upgrade option and it was a mess. Ended up just reinstallign 5.10. Waiting 5-6 weeks for the final release might be the best option.

Me too. Only pursue this option if it's a machine you can afford to lose.
