Unofficial Ubuntu 5.04 Add-On CD

For those who:
-have no internet connections
-have problems connecting to ubuntu and backports repositories
-are too lazy to do all the apt-get and commands
-are new to linux and doesn't know much about it
-just wants things to be configured right
-wants ubuntu to be multimedia and internet ready

Unofficial Ubuntu 5.04 Add-On CD

Includes:

UbuntuGuide (ubuntuguide.org)

Bootable SystemRescueCd (sysresccd.org)
-contain tools like Partition Manager (that can resize Windows), etc.

An install script (ug-install.sh) that will:
-install all the Add-On Apps mentioned in UbuntuGuide (no internet connection required)
-fix the sound prob (for most computers)
-associate dvd, multimedia files to open with xine and xmms rather than totem
-improved fonts appearance in GNOME desktop
-"-auto" parameter for unattended installation for all the Add-On Apps

Once after the script is installed, things are in place and multimedia are ready to go...

To install/extract the Add-On CD
sudo sh /media/cdrom0/install.sh
*this will only copy the packages into your hardisk. a copy of UbuntuGuide will be located on Desktop

To custom install Add-On Apps after install/extract the Add-On CD
sudo sh $HOME/Downloads/ug-install.sh
*this will prompt you [Y/n/q] to install all the Add-On Apps

Optional - To auto/unattended install Add-On Apps after install/extract the Add-On CD
sudo sh $HOME/Downloads/ug-install.sh -auto
*this will save you a lot of time. it will assumed Y to all and apps that needs input will only appear at the end of installation

You can find these instructions in the CD's index.html

Download:
frankandjacq.com/ubuntuguide/add-on-cd/ubuntu-5.04-add-on-cd-e-2005-07-09.tgz
*too new here, can't post url just add http:// in front of the link above

Google's cache of ubuntuguide.org/add-on-cd/ says "UbuntuGuide Add-On-CD is discontinued". Anyone know why? The actual link is a 404 not found.

I've said it before jiyuu0 and I'll say it again. Your CD makes Ubuntu worth it. Without this CD, I wouldn't even have considered the distro.

I look forward to many more updates, and the first release for Breezy when the time comes too.

jiyuu0, thanks for that. It is a pity (and quite worrying) that software can only be distributed according to the lowest common denominator of laws in any country in the world.

Is there an add-on CD for AMD64, or will the 32-bit one work on the x86_64 version of Ubuntu?

currently no, as i don't own a amd64 machine to test on and also some packages aren't available for amd64 and powerpc

the add-on cd would only work for x86 and not other architectures

I'd be interested to test, since I'm currently experiencing issues with the backports, and would like to try out your CD; however, I am also using an AMD64 build of Hoary.
