unable to download from repos

running kernel Linux 4.2.0-19-generic [x86_64]
using ubuntu based Uberstudent 4.3 xfce Heraclitus 64-bit
getting message: Failed to load package kit
E: Malformed line 2 in source list
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list (dist)
E: The list of sources could not be read
E: the package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Any suggestions as to how this may be corrected?

Unfortunately not.

Distrowatch lists Uberstudent as dormant with the last version going EOL as of May 2019 and its website is no longer in existence.

Version 4.3 was based on Ubuntu 14 which has also gone EOL. You might be able switch to Ubuntu's 14 archive repository if it still exists.
