[SOLVED] ubuntu22 gives larger font yet ubuntu20 gives smaller font

I upgraded the OS from ubuntu20 to ubuntu22.

The first I notice is that under ubuntu22, the font size is larger.

I have installed gnome-extension (or tweaks what not) but
it is only offering the option to scale beyond 100%.

So I am stuck. I have to use the older ubuntu20 since the font size just look
natural while ubuntu22 gives me a "smaller" screen since everything are scaled bigger.

I think the drivers are installed alright but just that the fonts size is now a problem.

Adjust font sizes, not scaling.

they may change the default fonts, so just set your preferred one.

changing the font is not an option because I will have to do for every single application: Terminal, Firefox, etc..
Anyway, I revert to Ubuntu20 for now and skip Ubuntu22

I got into trouble because I insist on scaling through gnome global scaling. The scaling of the gnome-extension only allows scaling more than 100% which
is more applicable if we have a very large screen with very high resolution.

Now I am able to customize the Terminal font through this:

Open Terminal, click on the 3-line (hamburger) icon, -> Preferences -> Unnamed
-> Text Appearance -> Custom Font -> Monospace -> adjust the font size with
+ or - in a box at the bottom.

You can set the default font for gnome which covers most gtk apps and set qt default front which covers most QT and KDE apps, and set X font, which covers most everything. But as you said some apps let you override that.

I don't think they modified all the apps, one by one, but they modified the system-wide default. So you only need to modify (restore) the same, instead of configuring every single application.
