Ubuntu Minimal Post-Installation Question

I want to try to create a system similar to the old Crunchbang (or the new BunsenLabs), except with Ubuntu. The reason for this desire is that the Ubuntu repositories contain newer programs than Debian testing. After installing with mini.iso, can anyone suggest what to install from the terminal besides openbox (tint, lightdm, tint, openbox configuration manager)? Also, if anyone wants to suggest the terminal commands, that would be great. What are the pluses and minuses of using the minimal installation based on 15.10 compared to 14.04? Thanks very much, in advance.

well first of all you have to know how to set it all up yourself.

i bet debian wiki can help with that (install a graphical environment, maybe)
or arch wiki (install X server?).
maybe even ubuntu wiki.
maybe there's already a thread about something like this (yes, based on ubuntu) either on crunchbang forums or on bunsenlabs forums.

slightly simplified, just installing openbox will pull in tons of dependencies, maybe even a display manager, and with a little luck it will "Just Work".

then you can still install all the bunsenlabs stuff & scripts, they maintain packages & a github repos.

Tnx

Thanks for the good reply. Was pretty right on, it turns out, as I already got things going along the lines you suggest.
