Ubuntu getting error when I open a terminal window

I'm running Ubuntu 5.10. I did a server install then installed xorg x-window-system-core then installed fluxbox from the fluxbox website, they have a version for Ubuntu 5.10. Everything going great except when I start xterm or Eterm or any other terminal I get an error then it pauses for about 20 seconds then gives me the correct prompt. This is what it says before it goes to the regular prompt:

xauth: creating new authority file /home/joker/.serverauth.7362

X: user nor authorized to run the X server, aborting.

Thats when it pauses for about 20 seconds, Then everything is find after until I open another Eterm window. Any suggestions??

you could try placing

xhost +localhost

to your ~/.xinitrc

I'm not sure this is the correct solution though...

It seems, that you try to run 'startx', when opening a terminal. Look in your '~/.bashrc' to see if this is true. If so, delete that entry.
