Unhappy ubuntu 15.04: how to disable 'hover click'?

I recently installed Ubuntu 15.04 and have it pretty well set up as I'd like it to be, but there is one problem that is bothering me - a lot!

While I'm moving the mouse around the screen, or in a menu, it suddenly pops up one or another items that I have not asked for. I read that it is cause by a deliberate plot from ubuntu, called "hover click" by which if the mouse stays on or near the same spot for a short second, the OS will presume that I meant to click it, and will 'click' it automatically.

Shouldn't be a great problem. That is, there should be some way to disable, or at least adjust that 'feature'. I found several sets of directions on Google to disable it, but they were all for older models of Ubuntu, and won't work in 15.04.

Any suggestions?

Is this advice from their official documentation relevant? Or you are not using Unity?

I found a solution. I installed a Mate desktop-environment, and went to the control center (from the menu) and reset the mouse settings there. And that seems to have reset them for Ubuntu (the original install as well. I prefer the Mate DE, though, and that is what I am using.

So I'm going to mark this SOLVED. Thanks, Perceptor, for your reply.
