Sound/music doesn't play on online websites. (Youtube, google video)

I have ubuntu linux 6.06 with the Fluxbox GUI manager. I am running Firefox for the browser, and I will go to an online video, and the sound won't play.

Now the odd part, I will be on Gaim, and someone will send me a message, and I will hear a sound.

Seems odd.

Sounds (sorry about pun) like you're encountering a flash link, possibly. Flash player is not installed in Linux by default. Possibly the soundless links require flash player. This is now available as Flash Player 9 beta. It is easy to install but there may still be challenges getting to to find your sound card.

I have already installed flash, so I can watch the videos. I remember having ubuntu with gnome interference before, and it worked fine.

I am trying to install flash 9, but when I click the download button, it directs me to flash player 7.
