shutdown??
Since going Kubuntu I find that my restart button is gone. I now have only log out, lock screen, switch user, suspend and hibernate.
What to do?

Are you still using gdm as your login manager? I notice that I don't have a shutdown button when using KDE + gdm but I do have a shutdown button when I use KDE + kdm.

I put KDE over Feisty GDE by installing kubuntu-desktop from synaptic.

Try installing kdm, sudo aptitude install kdm and see if that fixes it.

Looks like it was already installed. Hmmm. Try sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm and when it prompts for what login manager you want to use, select kdm.
