Show desktop only (not restore windows)

When I click on the "Show desktop" button, sometimes it restores all the windows and I have to click it again to minimize all.

How can I change this?

Thank you and Merry Christmas

What desktop environment are you using? is it Gnome, KDE, or something else? the functionality of the button will depend on the desktop environment you are using.

If you happen to be using Gnome, it may be of use to you to know that ctrl-alt-d will minimize all windows for you. (this may also work in KDE, I'm not sure.)

Hope this helps.
