There is a way to access CUPS (the Linux printing utility) using your browser! Just open a browser to
http://localhost:631/
It's not a web site (it'll work if you unplug your modem), but a graphical, interactive way to install and configure your printer. Click on "Admin" (you'll need to enter your username and password, just like accessing anything else as root), and find your printer (or the closest thing to it) in a drop-down list.
It could be that it'll print faster in "grayscale" instead of color, or some other li'l thing you can adjust using that interface.
