Ubuntu 10.04, ns-2.31 + CRCN.

Welcome to LQ.

Ubuntu 10.04 : Must be the 32bits (i686) version : $ uname -m

First take care that you have the right compiler :
$ sudo apt-get install g++-4.1

Building ns-2.31 + crcn :
1) tar xvf ns-allinone-2.31.tar.gz
2) cd ns-allinone-2.31/
3) $ tar xvf crcn-ns2.31.tar.gz https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S...it?usp=sharing
4) $ export CC=gcc-4.1 CXX=g++-4.1 && ./install
5) $ cd ns-2.31/
6) $ cp ns ns-crcn
7) $ sudo cp ns-crcn /usr/local/bin/
... Then all simulations can be done with $ ns-crcn example.tcl

# 3.

These are the compilers that show up in "10.04 synaptic" :
g++-4.4 (=the default g++), g++-4.1, g++-4.2, g++-4.3 .
And it's the g++-4.1 you are supposed to use for ns-2.31.

A 64bits OS : It's your own time that you are wasting.
Read the CRCN posts to know that you really should use a 32bit OS :
1) One of the main crcn functions cannot be simulated.
2) Other CRCN users do right away install another OS = 32bits.

The easy way : Install `VirtualBox´ into any OS, Windows© or Linux.
.. And then install 'CentOS 6 - i686' into VirtualBox.
( The old `Ubuntu 10.04 - i386´ can do CRCN too,
but isn't supported any more.)
