panels rearranged themselves

This is weird. Today I restarted my dual boot box and started up ubuntu.
The top and bottom panels both did a little rearrangement with no prompting from me. Yesterday the clock and volume control were on the rigth side of the top panel. The 4 little session windows and trash basket were on the right side of the bottom panel.
Today they are on the left.

Here's the way it was yesterday.

That is wierd. Did you do a sudo apt-get update & then a sudo apt-get upgrade? then did a reboot? or did you just reboot your computer just because? You may want to do a sudo apt-get update & then a sudo apt-get upgrade to see if it corrects the problem.

I don't recall the sequence exactly, but the first day I installed ubuntu I noticed the icon in the top panel that said there were 150 updates available. So I installed all those. The second day the little icon said there were an additional 66 updates available. So I installed those too. I didn't notice if the panel changed or not that day. Then I rebooted back to Windows 2000 for some stuff. This morning I rebooted back to ubuntu. That's when I noticed the rearrangement.
