Non working Lexmark x72 In ubuntu 6.06 LTS Daper Drake

I have an old Lexmark x73 combined Printer,fax and scanner which seems not to want to work.

I have already gone through the printer setup wizard, but when send the testpage to the printer nothing happens.

I check the print job indicator icon and all ot says is job stopped.

Then when I check the printer status bix in the printer management tool it returns the followuing error.

Ready: /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed

well, http://www.cups.org/ doesn't list your specific printer as being supported. got another one laying around?

also, sometimes selecting one that is near the same model can (sometimes) work. wouldn't hurt anything to try.

Printer engine seems to be compatible with driver for z42 - http://openprinting.org/show_printer...um=Lexmark-X73
