Hey all. I need your help in this issue. I have an HP DV6870ee with Ubuntu 8.04 installed. I guess the OS detected the wlan card but when I open the network manager I don't find any wireless network. Here are some Terminal commands that might help you look into the issue:

iwconfig:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

have you tried re-compling your drivers in to the kernel then dont forget to modprobe <driver name> after you have

then just do a

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

to restart your network card and then try sometimes the drivers in the kernel can fault, not all the time most of the time they work without a hitch but there is the occasional driver which faults. for instance in the driver for the rt73usb fails in suse and things ubuntu fixed it so you need to run a update using diffrent means of connecting to the internet.

let me know if this works if not there is allways ndiswrapper

good luck
