no sound after 9.10 upgrade

recently upgraded from 8.04 to 9.04. had issues with wireless card support so upgraded to 9.10, wireless now fine but lost sound. I'm on a gateway laptop that has been on kubuntu since 6.04. I'm thinking it is a simple config that i'm not aware of, any ideas?

You might want to try to download the latest ALSA, it fixes a lot of problems just like yours.

Thumbs up Alsamixer Solution

I had the same problem and just solved it last night using the Comprehensive Sound Problem Solutions Guide. Specifically the Alsamixer section.

Hopefully this solves your problem as well.
