Unhappy No login screen

Just updated to hardy heron on my desktop and laptop.
Everything is fine on the desktop but the login screen does not show on laptop, just a black screen for about 60 secs and then all is as it should be.

Have you checked to make sure the Gnome Login Manager is running? You'll find it under System--> Administration--> Services.

Yes i cheked login manager and is running, i just do not get the unbuntu crest with the line showing desktop loading, it just goes from the words starting goes black and then into desktop.
Everthing else works fine i checked settings on my other computer and they are the same, just strange that the laptop does not act the same.

Have you checked your graphics card settings? Maybe Ubuntu can't show the splash because the card isn't configured correctly.
