mouse & keyboard problem


I have installed ubuntu. After restart mouse and keyboard just stop functioning when I try to type user-name or password.
Sometimes I menage to type user-name but it stops working while entering password.
Any ideas?

You should try to find out if the system has totally hung, if it's just X that has hung or if it's something else.

Try key sequence:
Code:
Ctrl + ALT + Backspace
This sould kill/restart the X Server.

Also try
Code:
Ctrl + Alt + F1
This switches to the terminal. If you get a terminal, then it is likely that you're having troubles with X. You can view the log which is normally located here: /var/log/Xorg.0.log

You'll need to post what hardware you're using in order for anybody to help you further. It could be a driver problem.

Same problem

I have the same problem, but I cannot use my keyboard...so how can I type Ctrl + ALT + Backspace, for exemple ?

If these are USB keyboards and mice, you may need to verify that USB Emulation is enabled in BIOS, if that's an option...
