The
common solution does not work for this ... the trackpad
is enabled, I can only left-click on it.
This is an hp envy14 - the trackpad buttons were fine until the update yesturday. (Yes I know it's just one button with the effect depending on finger position when pressed.)
There is an
old bug report concerning this.
Code:
$ dmesg | grep -i synaptics
[ 15.036035] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 7.4, id: 0x1e0b1, caps: 0xd04771/0xe40000/0x5a0400
[ 15.072423] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input10
$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep syna
(II) LoadModule: "synaptics"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so
(II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
There are
various patches around for a long time ... the patches are all based in 2.6.35 - if I install this kernel I get
other problems.
The comments in post 36 of the last bug report are on the money and indicate that this is fixed upstream - I see 11.04
reported to do the multitouch but not the buttons...
which still needs a recompile.
Still dosn't help
me or anyone still on LTSs - the patches are for the wrong kernel in the first case and the wrong module in the second - looks like I'm stuck here. Anybody know different?
$ uname -r
2.6.32-33-generic-pae
losing the touchpad was one of the reasons I don't use 2.6.35 from backports.
Live disk od 10.10 won't boot at all - yet to try 11.04 myself - I'm hoping regression issues will be fixed in the next LTS.
