Using Uberstudent which based on Ubuntu [64 bit].
Somehow APT got deleted and so no apt-get.
Tried downloading the .deb file of APT, but after input [wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/poo...u2.13_amd.deb] and told connected, got message: ERROR 404: NOT FOUND
Any suggestions greatly appreciated as dead in the water for download/install.
that's a clear error.
are you sure the apt .deb resides at that location?
if not, it shouldn't be too hard to find the new location. packages.ubuntu.com?
apt and aptitude are 2 different things, but both will install programs.
Ubuntu does not have aptitude. Uberstudent might have it (Mint does).
You can try:
Code:
sudo aptitude install apt

OK Stev8, your command got me this output: "processing triggers for libc-bin (2.19-Oubuntu6.9)..."
Then back to a command prompt: wiliam@GO-4:-$ and so assume there may be a follow-up command to fix this problem with libc-bin; since I can't download anything, any fix will have to be via command line, so anyone with insight to this could further move things toward resolution.
