log of logins
how can i maintain a log file of logins done on my computer.

log of logins on NFS
sorry,
i haven't put up the question clearly.
i have NFS in my home containing of 4 PC and a server. i want to make a log of logins on any of the systems on my nfs server.

The log for login is in /var/log/auth.log in Ubuntu.

there are some logs but not of the logins made on the server. do i need to configure something so that this log is maintained.

What exactly do you mean by maintained? What logs are you looking for (on what machine, what system, what distro).
Specify please.

log of logins
i am using debian sarge as server. logins on network is facilitated using nfs nis portmap trio. so i want that if someone logins from somewhere in the network it gets logged in some file on the nfs server.

I'm thinking that you are probably looking at a syslog-ng client/server thing here.
Either that or change the path of the log to the mount point desired.

nfslogd on linux
i have got a hint to the solution to my problem. i think nfslogd could solve my problem. but i dont know from where can i get this package for debian or ubuntu.
