is there *any* wifi/usb which works with Ubuntu and WPA?

Hi,

I have had plenty of bad luck with wireless cards, being new to wireless probably helped me take the wrong turns. I have tried three wifi/usb cards so far:

1) Linksys WUSB54g.v4 (advertised by the FSF as working out of the box with gNewSense, a 100% free version of Ubuntu)
2) Linksys WUSB11v4
3) Ashton Digital Air Dash WRUB-2011i model WN220

None of them worked. The first one froze the system totally, the second one is never detected at all, and neither is the third one.

I should also probably add here that my network is secured with WPA and not with WEP.

Has anyone ever heard of a wifi/usb card which would work 'out-of-the-box' on a fully updated Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 and which could be given a WPA password in a simple dialog box?

Many thanks for any help!

VS

I have a WiFi port integrated into my motherboard (ASUS P5B wifi deluxe). It is Realtek, connected internally to a USB controller, so the WiFi model I own has got 2 USB ports less than the non-WiFi model).

I run the live+install Feisty 7.04 CD. The WiFi was detected and even gave me 2 networks detected (I couldn't connect because I had no password in the 1st case, and something like "my hardware couldn't support the safety options" in the 2nd).

I note that m$w!n detects the port but doesn't give any network and tells that it needs configuration.

I have an off brand card that I bought at Fry's electronics for $20. The name is Airlink101 AWLL5025 USB. It has the ralink rt73 chip in it. (I think that this chip supports WPA) Having not tried this card in Ubuntu, I cannot tell you if it is supported out of the box. But it is a good card and all the other brands of this chip cost about 2x more. Do some googleing about the rt73 and ubuntu 7.04 and you might find stuff.
